Showing a remarkable level of leadership and ingenuity within the development sector for more than 30 years, property veteran John Carfi was appointed as Aqualand’s Chief Executive Officer in 2018, moving to the role of Non-Executive Director in late 2021 and Chair for Central Barangaroo and Advisory Directory of Properties in 2023.
John provides leadership and counsel across the company’s strategic trajectory and growth plan, inclusive of Aqualand’s Central Barangaroo project, development pipeline, landbank, procurement, joint venture opportunities, risk mitigation and short-to-midterm business strategy development.
He joined Aqualand from the United Arab Emirates’ Emaar Properties, where he managed US$120 billion worth of multiple large-scale, mixed-use developments, and contributed to an annual turnover exceeding US$15 billion. A well-known figure throughout the Australian real estate industry, John worked for 15 years at Mirvac as Head of Residential and 15 years at Lendlease.
