This year, Aqualand is proud to see the Bond Building — our heritage-listed property at 52 Hickson Road, Millers Point — transformed into a dreamlike spectacle as part of Vivid Sydney 2025.
The iconic façade now plays host to Fantasmagoria, an immersive projection artwork by renowned Belgian collective Dirty Monitor. This large-scale light installation is a heartfelt celebration of storytelling — following the enchanting journey of a young girl who is swept into a fantastical book, traversing surreal landscapes and magical worlds.
As the Bond Building lights up each evening from 6 PM to 11 PM, it becomes more than architecture — it becomes a living storybook, inviting Sydneysiders and visitors alike to rediscover the wonder of imagination.
Fantasmagoria – VIVID SYDNEY
A book is more than words on a page—it’s a gateway to other worlds, a way of dreaming while awake. Stand before Fantasmagoria and watch as the pages of a fantastical story come alive, celebrating the beauty, power and transportive nature of dreams, reading and storytelling.
In an age dominated by digital imagery, this stunning projection pays tribute to the act of reading, where words spark vivid, fully realised worlds in our minds.
Follow the journey of a little girl as she’s drawn into a swirling vortex at the heart of a book. Her adventure unfolds across lush forests, vast deserts and glittering, icy landscapes, as she encounters wild and wonderful creatures along the way.
Fantasmagoria immerses you in a dreamy, surreal universe. A celebration of the magic of stories and imagination, and a reminder of the endless places they can take us.
